About the Postgraduate Certificate in Cross-Sector
Partnership
What are Cross-Sector Partnerships?
Cross-sector partnerships are alliances
between two or more parties from different sectors of society – for
example business, government and NGOs – who come together
in order to understand common interests and find innovative ways of
solving the shared challenges of sustainable development.

At the Johannesburg World Summit on
Sustainable Development in 2002, Kofi Annan identified cross-sector
partnerships as a key route for change: "Increasing the pool of
resources to tackle global problems on a global scale."
Since then, the ‘partnership approach’ has
been embraced by many different kinds of organisation – from
communities, NGOs and local district councils to international
donors, multinational corporations and governments. And despite
mixed experiences, partnerships have proven to have a unique role
in bringing together a wide variety of stakeholders and helping
them realise both individual and shared objectives.
About the Programme
The Postgraduate Certificate in Cross-Sector
Partnership (PCCP) is a 9-month course that explores the theory and
practice of partnership. It draws on the knowledge of practitioners
working in this area in order to examine the benefits and the
challenges of partnerships. It brings together an
international group of participants from a wide variety of
backgrounds to share experiences and search for solutions to their
common problems.
The Programme is open to anyone with a strong
interest in sustainable development and in the potential of
cross-sector partnerships to solve the many challenges that
arise.
Participants who successfully complete the
Programme receive a Postgraduate Certificate awarded by the
University of Cambridge Programme for Sustainability
Leadership.

course. For further information, please email: pccp@cpsl.cam.ac.uk.
